Alcumlow Wedding Barn Photographer – Darren & Laura

October 29, 2019

Alcumlow Wedding Barn – Cheshire Wedding Venue

When I was first added as a preferred Alcumlow Barn Wedding Photographer, Darren and Laura were the first couple to book me at this popular converted barn. As the months went on, they actually ended up being the final 2019 wedding that I would photograph at this Cheshire wedding venue. Their August wedding was fun from start to finish. With pretty much wall to wall sunshine and the corn fields in full growth, we were able to enjoy the full range of the Alcumlow’s facilities, from the wedding in the White House, the driveway for Laura’s smokebomb photographs and the previously mentioned cornfields!

Pre wedding shoot

Both Darren & Laura were a little unsure about what to expect from their wedding photography and both admitted that they were nervous when we first met properly on their pre wedding shoot in January. They needn’t have been! From the moment we got chatting on the car park to walking through the woods, I knew that they were going to be great fun. It was freezing cold but they were more than happy to walk thought the woods, sit on logs and were rewarded but some snowfall right at the end. How more romantic can you get??

Bridal Prep Photography

Laura got ready at the Manor House in Alsager, the town where I grew up, just a short drive from Alcumlow. With just her Mum and two friends doing her hair and make up, it was one of the most relaxed bridal prep photography sessions I have ever photographed!

August wedding

One thing you are never guaranteed with an August wedding is the weather, but it couldn’t have been any better. Laura rocked up with her dad in the brightest yellow VW van you have ever seen! It was a cracker! She was greeted by Darren at the White House and there was Lloyd, their dog, waiting to fulfill his role as the ring bearer. He did brilliantly then went to sit under a chair.

Dr. Martens Bridal boots

One of the things Laura had threatened me with was death……if I didn’t get any pictures of her with her Dr. Martens Bridal Boots. So, after the wedding breakfast, we headed off for some relaxed, unposed bridal portraits of the new Mr & Mrs Gosney all around the grounds of the barn. Thankfully, I got plenty of the pictures of Laura’s boots, so I lived to tell the tale!

Alcumlow Wedding Venue

Alcumlow is a converted Poultry Farm in the heart of the Cheshire Countryside. Having the vision to see what could be done with the farm, the new owners took on the huge renovation to bring the site back to life. The Wooden Dutch Barn was run down and had no roof or walls. It is now one of the most iconic wedding venues in Cheshire.

If you would like to tell me more about your wedding day and what you have planned, I’d love to hear from you and discuss the ideas for photographing your wedding day.
