Tom & Nikki’s Crewe & Nantwich Wedding

Some weddings throw up sad stories and beautiful stories at different times. When Tom called me, saying he would need a photographer starting at Crewe Hall, he explained that Nikki’s father had passed away earlier in the year, so they had decided to bring the wedding forward 12 months.
The beautiful part of the story, was that it meant they would be getting married whilst Nikki was pregnant and that her sister Samantha would also be pregnant, due the following month!
Cheshire Wedding venues
The day began by making my way to one of the most popular Cheshire wedding venues. I drove down the tree lined driveway at Crewe Hall and was greeted by the Grade One listed building which itself, sits in the beautiful eight acres of land.
Having met up with the bridal party, I began photographing the details of the room, Nikki’s wedding dress and also the bridal make up. Once the bride was in her dress, we took a walk outside into the August sunshine for some photographs of her with her daughter. Crewe Hall is a dream for a wedding photographer, especially in the surrounding grounds. After a couple more group pictures, we made our way to the wedding ceremony.
Wedding Breakfast
Arriving at the Crewe Municipal Buildings the heavens opened and the rain dodging began! The ceremony took place in the grandeur of the Mayor’s Reception Room and was followed by a wedding breakfast at Residence in Nantwich.
It’s a boy
Before the guests took their seats, we went outside for photographs of the newlyweds in the park across the road. Shoes were removed as we dodged the rain showers. Back in the restaurant the moment of truth arrived. Nikki had had a scan earlier in the week, where the sex of their baby was kept a secret and placed into a black envelope. Tom opened the envelope revealing a card that announced It’s a boy, a moment they shared along with all their guests.
I always consider covering weddings as a privilege, and to be in the room for such a moment just reaffirmed my belief.

The celebrations of both wedding and baby reveal continued through the evening, before the happily married couple retired back to Crewe Hall for the night. We seized the chance to do some more wedding portraits in the grounds of Crewe Hall as the temperature began to drop and shoes began to rub!
