Make sure their approach matches the look and feel you want for your wedding. As long as my couples are happy for me to share the details then I am always open to showing couples a full gallery.

3. Have you photographed at our venue before?

Experience with your venue can be helpful, but it isn’t essential. What matters more is that the wedding photographer is comfortable working in different environments and lighting conditions. While numbers vary, most couples receive several hundred edited images from a full wedding day. This question helps set expectations.

6. How long will it take to receive our photos?

Delivery times can vary from a few weeks to several months depending on the wedding photographer’s editing process and the time of year. Peak times mean more weddings to shoot and so more editing to fulfill. Some photographers offer a fee to move your edit up the order.

7. Do you have backup equipment?

Professional wedding photographers always carry backup cameras, lenses and memory cards to ensure that should there be some sort of camera malfunction, your day can still be captured.

8. What happens if you’re unable to attend?

Illness or emergencies are rare, but it’s important to know whether your wedding photographer has a professional network or contingency plan in place. I’m fortunate that I have a group of photographers that I can link up with should an emergency happen.

9. How do you help with the wedding timeline?

It’s why I always recommend a zoom call ahead of booking, just so you can be sure you have had chance to ask all the questions and for us to get to know more about each other. Your wedding photographer will spend a lot of time with you on the day, so it’s essential that you feel relaxed and comfortable around them.
