Some weddings perfectly capture the spirit of the city they’re held in, and Louisa and Anthony’s Liverpool wedding was exactly that. From the city’s most iconic landmarks to rooftop views across the skyline, it was a day packed with character, laughter, and plenty of unforgettable moments. As a wedding photographer, this is just the sort of wedding I love to capture!
Starting the day at the Hope Street Hotel
The day began at the stylish Hope Street Hotel, where I spent the morning with Louisa and her bridal party as they got ready. There was a wonderful atmosphere in the room, equal parts excitement and anticipation, plus an adorable little bridesmaid who completely stole the show more than once!
Meanwhile, Anthony and his groomsmen were gathering at the magnificent St George’s Hall ahead of the ceremony.

A ceremony fit for the big screen
Few wedding venues can rival the grandeur of St George’s Hall in Liverpool. Regarded as one of the finest neo-classical buildings in Europe, this Grade I listed landmark has become famous not only for its architecture but also for its appearances on screen. Over the years it’s been featured in productions including Batman, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, Peaky Blinders and The Crown.
As guests arrived, the excitement built outside before the bridal party made their entrance, walking along the red carpet into the venue. Inside, the ceremony room was every bit as impressive as you’d expect, with soaring ceilings, elegant architecture, and a real sense of occasion.
Following the ceremony, we took advantage of the stunning surroundings for family photographs, fun group shots and, of course, some romantic portraits of the newlyweds. The grandeur of St George’s Hall provided a spectacular backdrop, but we weren’t finished there.
Being in Liverpool, it would have been rude not to venture into the city itself. We headed out for some striking portraits on the city streets, and in front of the world famous Royal Liver Building, creating images that felt unmistakably Liverpool.

All aboard the wedding bus!
Once that stage of the wedding photography was complete, it was all aboard the wedding bus as we made our way to Oh Me Oh My for the reception.
Situated on the top floor of the historic West Africa House, Oh Me Oh My offers some of the best views in Liverpool, with a rooftop terrace overlooking the city skyline and waterfront. It’s a venue that really balances elegance with a relaxed atmosphere, making it ideal for a celebration.
Guests were welcomed with drinks, music, and plenty of laughter before everyone sat down for the speeches. There were heartfelt moments, hilarious stories, songs from the guests and more than a few laughs from the crowd.

Romantic couples portraits on the Liverpool skyline
As evening approached, I slipped outside with Louise and Anthony to make the most of the fading light for some stunning wedding photography. Despite some lively Liverpool wind on the rooftop terrace, we captured some beautiful twilight portraits with the city skyline glowing behind the bride and groom.
Then it was time to head back inside, hit the dance floor and celebrate late into the evening.
