Mere Court Hotel is a fantastic wedding venue to work at as a wedding photographer. I first worked there in May 2019. The venue was originally built as a wedding present for William and Amy Dunkerley in 1903. It is now a 4-star deluxe country house based in Knutsford in the heart of Cheshire. It now sits in 7 acres of landscaped gardens and grounds with a private lake. Working as a wedding photographer at Mere Court Hotel is great fun.
Mere Court wedding photography in Landscaped Gardens
The hotel is an award winning wedding venue and offers outdoor ceremonies in a purpose-built pagoda in beautifully landscaped gardens. You can choose indoor options if the weather isn’t on your side during your wedding day. As a wedding photographer, it offers plenty of opportunities to use different lighting, windows and little pockets of hidden gardens.
Darryl and Laura got married at Mere Court in May 2019. My day photographing their wedding began with Laura and her bridal party. They got ready inside the quaint Lodge at the front of the hotel driveway. With bridesmaids and page boys getting ready in the same building, the bridal prep was full of laughter, tears and had a wonderful pre wedding buzz. This is where I photographed one of my favourite parts of a wedding day, when the Father of the Bride sees his daughter in her dress for the first time. Always a tear-jerker!!
Bridal Party
After a short walk with her bridal party, dodging a rain shower, Laura arrived at the entrance to the hotel. Carrying her beautiful bouquet, which along with button holes and top table flowers, she’d had arranged by the very talented Caroline at Flowers At The Dutch Barn, Laura made her way inside to the Arboreum at Mere Court, walking up the aisle lined with sunflowers. Darryl was stood waiting, looking very dapper in his suit from Wife To Be, the same place as Laura’s dress. After the ceremony, led by the registrars from Cheshire East, it was time for the group photograph on the lawn. Moments later, the heavens opened once again.
Wedding Portraits at Mere Court Hotel
As the newlyweds mingled with their daytime guests, time was passed by playing crazy golf and revolving table tennis on the lawn. Before the wedding breakfast took place in the hotels conservatory, there was just enough time for some wedding portraits.
Singing Waiters
Anyone who knows Darryl and Laura will know how much fun they are. They somehow managed to keep the fact that they had invited the Singing Waiters a secret from all their guests. If you have experienced them, then you will know how it all works. I’m not going to ruin it but, needless to say, they are brilliant at what they do.
Natural Mere Court Wedding Photography
Following the speeches, desserts, and a dance around the conservatory, we took a stroll through the grounds of the Mere Court Hotel. We took more natural wedding photographs, this time in beautiful early evening sunlight, before returning for the evening events and more dancing and champagne!
Cheshire wedding venue
We finished the night with a creative portrait of the bride and groom by the fountain outside the front of the hotel. I had been planning this since I first visited this popular Cheshire wedding venue to look for places for photographs.

If you are planning your wedding and are looking for a natural style of photography that captures moments as they happen then please do get in touch via my contact page. I will happily send you over my brochure with more information.
