Nunsmere Hall Wedding Photographer – Ray & Joanne

March 28, 2020

Nunsmere Hall – Cheshire Wedding Venue

Ray and Joanne’s August wedding, at Nunsmere Hall in Cheshire, was my first visit as a Nunsmere Hall Wedding Photographer.

I had never photographed a wedding at this Cheshire Wedding Venue before. Adding Nunsmere Hall to the list of wedding venues I have worked at was exciting!

It was built in around 1900 and is situated in the heart of the Cheshire Countryside. Nunsmere Hall is surrounded by a 60-acre lake, making this wedding venue the perfect country getaway for your big day.

Award winning Hotel

Joanne arrived at the hall after having her hair done at L’Wren in Sandbach, Cheshire. She made her way into the award-winning hotel and upstairs, where Emily Goryl was on hand to make up all the members of the Bridal Party.

Ray, and his son Alex, who also played the part of Best Man superbly, were on the opposite side of the hotel. They were in the Bridal Suite, sprucing themselves up in their suits from Platts.

Joanne didn’t seem to stop smiling all day. From the moment she walked through the door right though to the first dance, she was beaming, and looked wonderful in her wedding dress.

Wedding ceremony

The wedding ceremony itself was full of smiles and laughter, before the new Mr & Mrs Patterson headed out onto the patio area at the side of the hall for drinks in the August Sunshine, before sneaking off for their first official portraits together as husband and wife.

Nunsmere Hall Lake

After both the bride and groom had delivered their speeches to their guests during the wedding breakfast, we went for a walk down through the woods to the enormous lake that surrounds Nunsmere. It’s a beautiful hidden area of the wedding venue and allows the bride and groom some peaceful time together to talk about the great fun that they have had throughout their wedding day.

Creative wedding photography

Once the evening gusts started to arrive, I set out looking around the venue for somewhere to try and create a couple of creative wedding photography portraits of the bride and groom, where I might be able to use some off camera flash techniques. After the first dance we used a couple of areas around the marquee and also in the trees at the back.

  • The bride hugs an evening guest
  • The bride and groom cut their wedding cake
  • A black and white image of the bride and groom during their first dance.
