As we go into 2024, the world of wedding photography continues to evolve, with new techniques, styles, and technologies emerging. Lets take a look at the latest wedding photography trends that are shaping the visual narratives of weddings in 2024…
Black and white wedding photography
Black and white wedding photography isn’t a new trend, but it’s one that continues to stand the test of time, and is having even more of a ‘moment’ for 2024.
The classic elegance of monochrome photography has made a significant resurgence in the wedding photography scene. As a wedding photographer, I’ve found that couples are always like the timeless look and emotional depth that black and white photos can evoke. This traditional yet relevant style not only captures the moment but also adds a touch of sophistication to the wedding album.
In an era dominated by vibrant visuals, black and white photography continues to remind us that simplicity and subtlety can be equally powerful.

Drone wedding photography
In 2024, the sky’s the limit for wedding photography, quite literally. Drone photography has become increasingly popular, providing a fresh perspective on capturing the grandeur of wedding venues and outdoor ceremonies. Aerial shots offer a unique view of the celebration, showcasing the venue, landscapes, and the couple in a new and exciting way.

Natural and Candid Moments
As someone who is primarily a documentary-style wedding photographer, this trend never gets old for me. Documentary style – or ‘candid’ – wedding photography has been popular for years now, but the trend of capturing unposed moments continues to gain momentum in 2024.
Couples are seeking photographers who can document genuine emotions and spontaneous interactions, creating a visual narrative that authentically reflects their wedding day. This style of wedding photography emphasises the raw and unscripted beauty of weddings, focusing on the real, emotional moments that unfold throughout the day.

Sustainable and Eco-Friendly Practices
With a growing emphasis on sustainability, wedding photographers are adopting eco-friendly practices for 2024. This includes using renewable energy sources for equipment, minimising waste in the printing process, and choosing digital alternatives whenever possible.
Pets at weddings
I’ve previously written about how to incorporate your pet into your wedding. As a wedding photographer, I have seen a huge rise in pets at weddings over recent years and I have to say that when done well, they add so much joy and make for some great photo opportunities too! If you would like to include your pet in your wedding feel free to contact me for advice on how this can work really well when it comes to your wedding photos.
